At this moment our DA is running for reelection. She is being accused of corruption - and I fear that the accusations are true. And yet she has done a lot for crime victims, specially children and abused women. She supports rerouting non-violent first offenders into alternative programs - thus reserving prison space for the dangerous criminals...<br /><br />You see the dilemma. Pena, and I would post it that way, but you do not offer Facebook links.<br /><br />Yes, there is a problem, and one that needs addressing, but I wonder if you are more interested iAn blaming the Left and liberals than trying to address the problem. As if the Right has not done its share of demeaning or exploiting.<br /><br />Yes, the Left has more than its share of contradictions and hypocrisies. After all, we are talking about human beings. But the stereotype of leftists who "love humanity in the abstract and hate human beings" and who prefer political action to doing something to help is NOT what I have seen and done in my liberal Unitarian church. Be it supporting a pre-school for children of poor parents, establish a food bank, ringing a bell at Christmas to raise money for an interfaith fund to help those in need in our community, or hosting a homeless shelter with members taking turns volunteering, we manage to belie your stereotype every day of the week.<br /><br /><br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
